Introducing Acumatica 2022 R1 (What’s New)

Acumatica 2022 R1 is now available. The first of 2 semi-annual releases (R2 to roll out later this year), the newest version of the popular cloud ERP software boasts new features that span accounting and finance, CRM, manufacturing, the mobile app, and more. Here’s a closer look at what’s new in the release notes for the latest version of Acumatica ERP.

Key Themes of Acumatica 2022 R1

At a very top level, there are a few key themes that Acumatica touts as having driven new features and enhancements in the latest release. Those themes include:

Work Smart on the Go (Mobility)

The ability to work from anywhere using the Acumatica Mobile App is already well-established. But each new release, including Acumatica 2022 R1, enhances those capacities by enabling you to tailor your mobile workspace to your role by setting favorites, adding KPIs, and making mobile ERP more personalized.

Going Global

With technology, borders and boundaries are no longer a hurdle to doing business internationally and overseas. Acumatica ERP continues to add localization features to expand support for customers doing business in multiple countries. On the heels French-Canadian localization added in a previous release, Acumatica 2022 R1 adds localization features for the United Kingdom.

Enhancing Industry-Specific Features

While the core of Acumatica ERP covers wide range of businesses, some industries have unique requirements that go beyond core functionality. With each new release (including 2022), new features for the industry-focused editions are rolled out including Construction, Retail-Commerce, Distribution and Manufacturing.

General Ledger Anomaly Detection

A new GL Anomaly Detection feature introduced in Acumatica 2022 R1 uses a machine learning algorithm to calculate predictions of errors in posted GL transactions. As you continue to use Acumatica, the algorithm uses a machine learning model to continuously train the software to recognize patterns and flag anomalies that don’t fit that pattern.  This powerful technology helps you proactively catch errors and identify potential issues more quickly and easily.

As part of this new feature set, a GL Anomalies Dashboard has been introduced that displays various key performance indicators (KPIs), tables, and charts related to data and transactions from GL Anomaly Detection. Sample data includes Top Anomalies by Amount and Confidence Score, Reclassified Transactions and Trends, YTD Amounts, and more.

Bank Transaction Processing Enhancements

In Acumatica 2022 R1, automated bank transaction matching processes have been improved in multiple ways.  First, you can now automatically match a large number of bank transactions or create an automation schedule for the matching and processing of bank transactions which was not possible in previous versions.

In addition, you can now match bank transactions to multiple AR and AP documents (Bills, Invoices, Credit Memos, Debit Adjustments).  In previous versions, you could match a bank account to multiple invoices and bills, but to apply a credit memo or a debit adjustment, you had to create a new document which is more time-consuming.

Lastly in previous Acumatica versions, unreleased AR payments and prepayments with deducted charges were shown with the full amount (without the charge being deducted). As a result, you could not match these payments or prepayments to the corresponding bank transaction. However, starting in Acumatica ERP 2022 R1, the system now shows unreleased payments and prepayments with deductible charges applied to them, which can be matched to bank transactions.

Mobile App Workspaces

Workspaces are now supported in the Acumatica mobile app, enabling users to streamline and personalize their experience with functions such as:

• View only workspaces relevant to the user’s role
• Perform typical operations (i.e. create new records) directly from the list of screens in a workspace without needing to open the corresponding screen first
• Add KPI widgets from the dashboards to the main menu and to workspaces
• View the list of recent records that the user has opened both in the mobile app and in Acumatica ERP
• Navigate and reorder favorite screens and records
• Much more …

Industry Edition Enhancements

In the Construction Edition, Acumatica 2022 R1 has customized and streamlined progress billing by quantity (linear footage, square footage, etc.). The new release also simplifies tax calculations for a project by creating project cost and revenue tax zones.  Acumatica now also connects drop-ship workflows to change orders, allowing you to manage change orders more easily. Plus, project quote functionality has been improved. Now with a minimum of steps, you can create project quotes for multiple customers that are related to the same opportunity.

In Acumatica Distribution Edition, the latest release has simplified long-term customer sales agreements with blanket sales orders.

Lastly, in the Manufacturing Edition, new features include:

• Production control points that streamline data entry for milestone operations
• Manufacturing finish, move, and queue times improve scheduling precision
• Role-based dashboards for manufacturing operations, production management, and engineering provide actionable, real-time insights
• MRP Order Policy with consolidated demand planning streamlines procurement processes

Other Enhancements

There are too many new features and enhancements to cover in one article. But here are a few additional key highlights worth mentioning:

Blanket Sales Orders – create blanket sales orders for regular sales based on a long-term agreement between the selling company and the customer.

Final Paycheck – you can now create a final paycheck and specify the termination date and termination reason for the paycheck. This information is then synchronized with the employment history of the employee. Previously, this was a manual, multi-step process.

Search Flexibility – to improve search performance in certain screens, administrators can now specific whether the search logic uses “contains” or “starts with” logic.

Merge Duplicates in CRM – you can now merge duplicate records as well as associate leads, contacts, and business accounts (including duplicates) faster and more easily.
