There’s quite a bit of buzz and excitement among Acumatica Partners about the near- and long-term future of the popular cloud ERP product. And with the release of Acumatica 2020 R1 (Release 1), there’s very good reason to be! Here’s what’s new in the latest release of Acumatica ERP.
Acumatica CRM Enhancements
The CRM functionality in Acumatica ERP 2020 R1 introduces improvements to the user interface (UI) and workflow.
For example, you can now be able to modify the order of inventory items included in an opportunity or quote by dragging lines on the Document Details tab of the Opportunities or Sales Quotes form. In addition, other UI improvements help to streamline opportunity creation.
Workflow in Opportunities and Cases are also redesigned so that the system now automatically assigns an opportunity the applicable status based on user actions, rather than having to manually change the status repeatedly. In addition, the CRM lead workflow was redesigned to provide added control over opportunities, leads, and contacts. Lastly, a new set of reporting tools and onscreen inquiry forms will help improve decision making for employees who use the Acumatica ERP functionality related to providing marketing and support services.
A variety of time-saving and useful enhancements to core financial management features in Acumatica ERP 2020 R1 include:
- Ability to enter payments for accounts receivable documents by individual lines rather than just the invoice as a whole
- A new Cash Account Checks Inquiry helps you determine whether a particular check number has been used and, if it has, by which AP check
- Improvements to the fixed assets depreciation calculation engine
- Ability to release an AR invoice from credit hold if the customer’s credit limit was exceeded (previously not available)
Acumatica Inventory and Order Management
In Acumatica 2020 R1, new Matrix Items can be used to represent multiple attributes of an inventory item such as size, color, and other variations that are particularly common in the apparel industry.
In addition, advanced inventory picking methods including wave picking and batch picking to streamline operations in your warehouse and help route staff more efficiently as they pick and fulfill orders.
Other Acumatica inventory and order management enhancements include:
- Upload inventory images from a mobile device through Acumatica ERP web interface (and delete file attachments)
- Ability to void and re-create invoices linked to sales orders
- Expanded shipping options
Project and Construction Accounting
One of the primary enhancements for both Acumatica Construction and Project Accounting is the ability to calculate retainage in one of the following ways:
Standard retainage: already available in previous versions of Acumatica ERP
Standard retainage with steps (New): this standard processing of retainage that also allows you to specify a list of retainage percent values for the entire project to be applied in accordance with the percentage of project completion.
If the Payment Application by Line feature is enabled (described earlier in this article), retainage can also be calculated as follows:
Project cap retainage: The retainage percent and cap are specified at the project level. The retainage amount is allocated across the billed lines until the maximum value is reached.
Project cap retainage with steps: This retainage works as project cap retainage does, but a list of retainage percent values can be specified for the entire project to be applied in accordance with the project completion percent.
Project item cap retainage: The retainage percent and cap are specified at the line level, and the retainage amount and maximum cap are calculated individually for each line.
